Training is an estimated AU9 Billion Dollar Industry - yet only 10% of learning is retained
Q: How much money, time and effort have you or your company lost due to training that misses the mark?
Training is estimated to be a $9 Billion dollar industry in Australia and yet the statistics show us that only 10% of learning is retained. That's a loooot of money wasted I'm sure you'd agree!
To create learning that "sticks" is not easy.
In fact, one of the most common pieces of feedback we receive once someone has been on one of our courses is:
"When I first heard I was booked onto training, I was pretty bummed out because most training misses the mark, is boring and wastes my time. But I am SO GLAD I came! You have shown me that training can be fun, practical and really meaningful."
So, although a lot of training out there is hit and miss, when delivered by experts who care deeply about outcomes and who truly understand how learning happens, it can make a HUGE difference to company engagement, performance and bottom-line results.
Learning is simple, when you know how.
Having trained over tens of thousands of people over the past 20 years, I have developed 5-Principles which are incorporated into every single learning event run through Skill Junction. It's been the key to our success.
And, once practically implemented with a combination of coaching, buddy-work, review and follow-up afterwards, allows for meaningful, lasting change to occur.
Learners learn best when they feel safe and comfortable enough to share. The facilitator's role is to sensitively create this environment.
Although learners need to feel safe in order to open up to the learning, without stretch and challenge there is a tendency to get bored, complacent. Stretch makes learning interesting and challenging.
Learners enjoy engaging with others and sharing their ideas and stories. Sometimes they may need alone time and at others they may need group time - a good facilitator knows when to apply these.
Learners enjoy the opportunity to apply what they have learnt in a safe environment and get instant feedback
Neuroscience teaches us that we are more likely to absorb and learn when we are in a pleasurable state that allows for stretch (mentioned above). Fun is therefore fundamental to a great learning experience!
Since 1996, I have been developing and delivering workshops to professionals, leaders and their teams, specific to their needs and budgets to achieve better business results.
At Skill Junction, we know that sometimes you want specialised attention to get you super-quick results to your most pressing problems. I offer both coaching packages as well as specialised VIP Consulting days.
If you are looking for a speaker to get the room engaged, focused and having fun while learning, you may want to check out what I have to offer as a speaker.
Organisations have always taken the leading role in advising and rolling out training for their staff. While this still holds largely true today, the trend is fast changing where individuals WITHIN these organisations are taking on the responsibility for their own learning.
I believe that "future-proofing" your job is the smart thing to do given the current rate of change both locally and globally. And, quite simply, you can do this through consistently upgrading and learning new skills.
My aim at Skill Junction is simple: through our workshops, webinars, coaching and speaking, we want to change the world and make it a better place, one conversation at a time.
Join us as we transform lives.
See you at the top!

I first met Kerry about a year ago while doing a Change Management course where she was the facilitator.
I have done quite a lot of these types of courses throughout my career and have to say Kerry is the best facilitator I’ve come across.
I went onto have the pleasure of working with Kerry again in another course and in both courses she was energetic, amazingly engaging and had the rare ability (in my experience) to adjust the course content and format to suit the people in front of her.
It was during one of these courses that I approached Kerry about undertaking an Executive Coaching Programme with her. Over a four month period we worked through a customised coaching programme.
Kerry took a holistic approach which I really liked – she looks at a person’s whole life than just about their work life. Kerry’s genuineness comes through in how she gets to know you and then prepares a programme that suits your individual circumstances.
Kerry provided practical tools and action plans on next steps etc which were realistic and achievable.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with Kerry and found the coaching programme to be of great benefit.

I have had the pleasure of working with Kerry Anne in her capacity as a leadership development facilitator training our frontline leaders at QGC.
Oil & gas can be a tough industry yet Kerry Anne glides through every audience creating high impact and delivering results. Her ability to quickly and authentically establish a relationship with every person in the room allows her to build trust and confidence with her clients, whether they be operational supervisors, or technical engineers.
We have received a lot of great feedback from employees about Kerry Anne personally as a facilitator, many suggesting she is one of the best they have ever experienced.
