Emotional Intelligence is a set of skills that defines how effectively you perceive, understand, reason with and manage your own and other's feelings.
Enhanced emotional intelligence transforms entire companies when applied to all levels and roles, or it can be used to improve individual business functions such as leadership, sales, and customer service.
High levels of emotional intelligence, result in consistently high engagement scores. Gallup’s research has shown that organizations with high levels of engagement earn 3.9 times earnings per share greater than like organizations with wide and varied engagement results.
Those with a high degree of emotional intelligence make more money—an average of $29,000 more per year than people with a low degree of emotional intelligence. The link between emotional intelligence and earnings is so direct that every point increase in emotional intelligence adds $1,300 to an annual salary. These findings hold true for people in all industries, at all levels, in every region of the world.
The GENOS Model of Emotional Intelligence was developed in the late 1990s by Dr. Ben Palmer and Professor Con Stough from Swinburne University. It involves seven core emotional intelligence skills identified in their research on a wide variety of different models and measures of EI.
At Skill Junction, we use the seven skills of the model to develop the productive leadership states, shown on the outside of the model, and to minimize the unproductive leadership states, shown on the inside of it.

There is a strong positive relationship between leaders’ emotional intelligence and employee engagement as seen in the image below.

In the graph below, each dot represents an employee’s engagement score. The x axis of the graph represents leaders’ emotional intelligence as a percentile score - scores between 1 and 39 are low, 40 to 59 are average, and 60 and above are high.
As you can see, being average or low in emotional intelligence results in wide and varying levels of employee engagement where employees are disengaged, not engaged and engaged. These types of engagement scores are typical of low and average performing organizations. Conversely, high levels of emotional intelligence, indeed total emotional intelligence scores above the 75th percentile, result in consistently high engagement scores. These types of engagement levels among employees are typical of high performance organizations. Indeed, Gallup’s research has shown that organizations with this type of engagement level earn 3.9 times earnings per share greater than like organizations with wide and varied engagement results.
The program focuses on seven core skills of Emotional Intelligence via structured learning modules delivered by a certified Genos EI practitioner in either a one-on-one or small-group coaching format.
The learning modules draw on the latest adult learning principles and focus on an individual’s:

• Thoughts and Feelings
• Values and Beliefs

There are a total of x 10 2-hour sessions run over a 3 - 6 month period OR for those who want to get the programme quickly delivered and integrated into their business or team, or you have the option of a 2-day Workshop Intensive which consolidates the learning below.
Pre-and-post program Emotional Intelligence Assessments can be included in your programme.
The pre-program assessments are used to:
• determine base-line levels of Emotional Intelligence
• identify individual strengths and opportunities for development, and
• tailor the content of the program to address individual needs.
The post-program assessments are used to:
• examine the level of enhancement achieved
• identify areas to focus on post the program, and
• determine how to sustain the enhancement post the program.

The average level of Emotional Intelligence enhancement achieved is approximately 20%.
